Nha Trang is a stop on the main railway-line connecting Hanoi and Saigon (Ho Chi Minh City).
The railway station in Nha Trang is close to the cathedral in the northern part of the town.

There are numerous classes of train for the journey Saigon to Nha Trang
Trains going from south to north are called reunification express trains. There are few trains per day from Moday to sunday. The time table for trains between Saigon and Nha Trang is taken from the official website of Vietnamese Railways, but it is wise to check if nothing has been changed.
SE trains are the best and TN trains are slower and older. During holiday, such as Tet, there are additional trains.

Reunification express train go further to the north to Hanoi, but it is also possible to cross the Vietnamese/Chinese border and continue the journey to Beijing. Saigon to Nha Trang by '5 Star Express' or 'Golden Train'
There is one more kind of train for this journey. It used to be a privately-run deluxe tourist train called the 5 Star Express, from Saigon to Nha Trang, but it does not run anymore and the website is down. However now there is another company that took up the operation in December 2007 and the train is now called Golden Train. For more info and booking check Golden Train Saigon - Nha Trang on the DSVN Vietnamese Railways website they have names the SN1 and SN2.
These are high-quality trains. They have private departure lounges at each end, luxurious sleeping compartments as well as modern and comfortable sofa style seats. Ffacilities on the train include LCD TV's, several bars and airline-standard bathrooms. The train departs daily at the following times:
Saigon - Nha Trang: 06:15 (arriving 13:33)
Nha Trang - Saigon: 14:55 (arriving 23:18)
Tickets prices depend on which of three classes are chosen:
5 star: 450,000 VND (one way), 900,000 VND (return).
Deluxe: 330,000 VND (one way), 660,000 VND (return)
Standard: 200,000 VND (one way), 400,000 VND (return)

Bus Saigon to Nha Trang
Bus is another option. More quiet and less space, but probably safer, because you will travel only with few people closed together with you in the bus. There are few bus companies and most of them have sleeping busses. The most interesting invention you could have in the bus. The price is around 7 dolars one way. Each company has a slightly different kind of beds, and some are more comfortable than the others. During the day you can have a sitting chair, in the night it is usually a bed with a blanket and a pillow. Busses have air-condition.
